If you belong to a Punjabi community, you must be aware that Punjabi weddings are known for their flashiness and splendour. There are a plethora of reasons to support this. You must have seen Punjabi weddings performed lavishly along with full vivacity. With the rising influence of Matrimonial Sites, Punjabi weddings are being rejoiced more than ever. This is because there are a plenty of rituals that are needed to be followed well before and after a wedding takes place. But most of the times, people love to enjoy with as much fun and excitement as they can. With the advancement of technology, you can easily find a Punjabi groom or bride with the help of matrimonial sites. The most important aspect of such a wedding lies in the rituals that they follow. Some of the rituals that are widely known are Roka ceremony, Sagan, Chunni Chadana, Mehandi ceremony, etc. All these rituals are a crucial part of a Punjabi wedding and make it lavish than any other wedding.

You must be aware of the rituals that are usually followed in Hindu community. Earlier, people had no choice but to follow the age old traditions while arranging marriages of their sons and daughters. For example, if we talk about the essence of a Punjabi wedding, it takes place with a lot more fun and excitement than any other wedding. A Punjabi wedding is way different than other wedding due to the kind of customs and rituals that are practised here as compared to any other Hindu community.

Otherwise, most of the other rituals happen to be the same. Apart from that Punjabi people are more fun-filled and enjoy to their level best in any wedding ceremony of their community.

Please take a look at the kind of rituals that are usually followed and practised at the time of a Punjabi wedding:

Roka ceremony

Roka happens to be the first ritual performed to secure the consent from the respective families of bride and groom. The function is generally attended by close friends, relatives and family members.

This is done mainly to exchange gifts and cash. At some places, there is a tradition to perform a small ardaas or puja. This is done to mark the first and foremost step towards the wedding.

Sagan

Roka generally takes place at the groom's place. The entire ceremony is performed in the presence of puja and Havan. At this time, bride's father applies the tikka on the groom's forehead.

This is followed with the blessings from the family members of bride. The function ends after all the relatives and friends offer sweets to the groom.

Mehendi Ceremony

This happens to be one of the main ceremonies of a Punjabi wedding. Mehandi is generally applied by women at the time of any festival, as it is known to be an auspicious occasion in your life.

Mehandi ceremony is an important part of a Punjabi wedding that is usually applied on the hands and feet of bride by the groom's family members. Some people even hire professionals to apply Mehandi to the bride's hands and feet.

Sangeet or Music

After you manage to find your ideal match through matrimonial sites, it’s time to have full fun by getting involved in the rituals.

Sangeet is an indisputable part of rituals performed at the time of a Punjabi wedding. A wedding is incomplete without the essence of music. And you can’t imagine having fun without the presence of music in any wedding.

Conclusion- Matrimonial sites are widely growing popular for conducting the most lavish and splendorous Punjabi weddings.
